Just Doing It

Mubarak has FINALLY stepped down! This is such amazing news. I know that most people know this by now, but I still think it's worth mentioning. This is HUGE for Egypt! I hope things settle down fairly soon, although, who knows? All that's gone on is so crazy. A huge mix of emotions. There's been so much mayhem. I am so glad that I am Canadian. I may complain about the weather, the lack of things to do (although, that's untrue. There are many things to do, I just don't look to hard for them!) and such, but I am proud to be Canadian. There's so much that we take for granted here. Mainly, our freedom and our rights. We have so many things that the peoples of other countries don't. Women here have equal rights. Education. Health care. A standard of living. A right to life. It's hard to fathom that there are places in the world that don't offer, or even care to offer their people basic human rights and dignities. It's sad. It's unfair. It needs to end. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of the good things to come for Egypt.

Writing to write. That is my goal these days as I have mentioned before. I am playing around with ideas for writing a book. Since I am going to Europe this summer, perhaps I could write some sort of travel book? Not necessarily a guide book or my thoughts or whatever. Perhaps some sort of fiction book with information I pick up along the way? Write about something the tour I am doing, but have it be based in fiction? There are so many possibilities. And I have NO idea where to start. Outlines. Research. Characters. Length. Theme. Genre.(Yes, I did say fiction and travel, but it could be a romantic book, a mystery, supernatural?)Plot. So much to think about. Anyone have any ideas, feel free to chime in! I am all for suggestions! This is a fairly new thing for me to attempt, so I need all the help and support that I can get!

For now, I am focusing on the art of writing everyday. Getting over my fear of writing even when I am not inspired or remotely motivated to do it. Making the habit. That is the goal for now. Perhaps the more I sit down and do it, the actual ideas for a book will take shape and I can start piecing them together. So here goes nothing! You'll be posted for sure!
